Digilent's MCC 128 is a voltage Hardware Attached on Top (HAT) board, specifically designed for the Raspberry Pi, which is currently the most popular single-board computer. The HAT is an add-on board that comes with a 40W general purpose input/output (GPIO) connector, conforming to the Raspberry Pi HAT specification. It provides 8 single-ended or 4 differential analog inputs for voltage measurements, with an input range that can be selected for ±10 V, ±5 V, ±2 V, or ±1 V.

The MCC 128 header is designed to plug into the 40-pin GPIO connector on a Raspberry Pi supplied by the user. It has been tested for compatibility with all Raspberry Pi models that come with the 40-pin GPIO connector. The HAT configuration parameters are stored in an on-board EEPROM, which allows the Raspberry Pi to automatically set up the GPIO pins when the HAT is connected.

One of the key features of the MCC 128 is its stackability. Up to eight MCC HAT boards can be stacked onto a single Raspberry Pi. This allows for multiple boards to be synchronized using external clock and trigger input options. Users also have the flexibility to mix and match different MCC HAT models in the stack.

The MCC 128 offers a maximum throughput of 100 kS/s for a single board. However, when multiple boards are stacked, the maximum throughput increases to 320 kS/s in aggregate. The board also features a bidirectional clock I/O pin, which allows users to pace operations with an external clock signal or with the board’s internal scan clock. The direction can be set using software.

Additionally, Digilent's MCC 128 comes with an external digital trigger input that is software-configurable for edge or level sensitivity, rising or falling edge, or high or low level. The power for the MCC 128 is supplied by the Raspberry Pi through the GPIO header connector, with a voltage of 5 V.
