It is built tough with an over molded housing and can withstand up to a 1 meter drop. When used with a detector, this laser can achieve up to a 165 ft. range. Detector sold separately

What is the difference between the DW087K and the DW088K?
The DW088K has an additional feature of having full time pulse mode allowing use with a line laser detector (DW0892). This will extend the useful range to approx 150 ft (50 m).
