5615-12-P Overview

The 5615-12-P (previously Hart Scientific) is a Platinum Resistance Thermometer (PRT) featuring an Inconel 600 sheath that measures 305 mm (12 in) in length and 6.35 mm (0.250 in) in diameter. It serves as a secondary reference temperature standard, bridging the gap between top-tier laboratory standards and industrial or secondary lab settings, with an accuracy of +/- 0.012 Celsius at 0.01 Celsius. The -P denotes the termination of the lead cable as INFO-CON.

The thermometer's element is made from reference-grade platinum wire (99.999% pure) for superior stability. The wire is coiled and placed in a mandrel, providing uniform support that nearly eliminates hysteresis. Its four-wire current-potential electrical configuration removes the effects of lead-wire resistance.

This Inconel-sheathed probe features a fully supported sensing element, enhancing durability compared to SPRTs. The element is housed in an ultrahigh-purity ceramic case with a hermetic glass seal, which improves output stability by preventing moisture and contaminants from entering.

INFO-CON Connectors Ensure Correct Temperature Conversion

Inside the INFO-CON, a memory chip keeps calibration information for the attached probe. Simply plugging in the probe uploads the information to the readout, ensuring the correct temperature conversion for accurate, hassle-free measurements.

5615 Series

The 5615 Series probes come calibrated with ITS-90 coefficients, making it compatible with many excellent readout devices, including Fluke Calibration’s 1529 Chub-E4, 1560 Black Stack, and 1502A Tweener. It bridges the gap between a 100-ohm industrial RTD and an SPRT.

Specifications for the 5626-00-X models are as follows, where 6,9,12 = Sheath and X = Termination:

Sheath Length:

  • 5615-6-x: 152 mm x 4.76 mm (6.0 in x 0.188 in)
  • 5615-9-x: 229 mm x 4.76 mm (9.0 in x 0.188 in)
  • 5615-12-x: 305 mm x 6.35 mm (12.0 in x 0.250 in)

Termination:

  • A (INFO-CON for 914X)
  • B (bare wire)
  • D (5-pin DIN for Tweener Thermometers)
  • G (gold pins)
  • J (banana plugs)
  • L (mini spade lugs)
  • M (mini banana plugs)
