Generally speaking, Lead free solders are more corrosive (higher tin content) and have higher melt temperatures. This creates issues with the cheaper offshore solder pots that aren't truly built for industrial usage. American Beauty Digital pots were born out of our industrial line of solder pots whose main claim to fame are a superior level of heat and true ruggedness. The higher melt temps of the lead-free solders pose little problem for our digital pots which are accustomed to running on the high-end of the temperature spectrum for hours on end. All solder pots incorporate grey cast iron crucibles which do not readily dissolve into the tin based solders at standard operating temperatures. Should you need the extra piece of mind, or you are running your pot over 800 on a routine basis, you can order you solder pot with a ceramically coated crucible. Not only will this provide an extra level of assurance and longevity to your investment, it will make changing out solder baths a snap.
